Yarm going for bronze - ESR
Yarm Squash Club (YSC) proudly hosted its second England Squash and Racketball (ESR) sanctioned Junior Bronze Event on the weekend of 7-8th November 2015.
A mammoth 125 matches, 74 entrants over 8 different age categories with entries from Durham & Cleveland, Northumbria, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire! All four courts were in use on two squash-packed days. The tournament was an energetic and highly enjoyable weekend for all involved, with coveted ESR Rankings points at stake for the Boys & Girls U19s, U17s, U15s and U13s.
Representing the home club this year were Ben and Lucinda Cross, Sam and Will Gibbon, Daniel Scott and Toby Simpson. All played fantastic squash adding to the atmosphere of a great weekend of squash. Well done to you all.
Andy Cross took over the reins this year as tournament organiser and did a great job with a great team of helpers who worked hard all weekend. Thanks to all involved, you know who you are…
Once again we had fantastic support from our sponsor Ali Raine, Director of ‘Money Matters’ Independent Financial Advisors and Mortgage Consultants. His sponsorship ensured all entrants were given a souvenir shirt promoting YSC. Andy Cross also helped out with contributing towards the cost of great looking trophies for the winners and runners up and along with prizes from Dunlop of kit bags this was a great event to enter.

It is hoped that running events like this at YSC will help to strengthen the junior section of the club. Sponsorship allows any profits made from entry fees to be set aside for development of our juniors and the future of the club. Hopefully we can promote new junior membership and with opportunities available to access group and individual squash coaching, it is hoped that our junior membership will continue to grow, ensuring a bright future for our club.
